Jabber.org.uk Terms of Service & Acceptable Use Policy Registration as a user of the jabber.org.uk Jabber services, or it's associated virtual hosted domains [1], means that you accept this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). If you do not agree to it you should not proceed, or if you are already registered you should unregister your account as per the 'Account Deletion' section. Our Aims -=-=-=-=- Jabber.org.uk aims to provide a stable Jabber/XMPP server which is primarily targeted at UK users. We aim to provide stable gateways to other Instant Message (IM) systems, but this is secondary to running a stable Jabber service. This is, however, not always possible due to their stability & reliability of the gateway code as well as blocking by the other IM systems. We will endeavour to keep backups of your account details as well as your roster but ultimately we cannot plan for every eventuality and you should keep your own backup of your roster if it is important to you. We offer no warranty about the reliability and/or the security of this service, or the information we store, as this is run in our own free time. We do out best to offer the best service to our users, but this is not always possible. What we ask of you -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Jabber.org.uk provides you with a unique Jabber ID and expects you to behave responsibly. You may register multiple Jabber IDs, but each must conform to the requirements of this AUP. If you violate the AUP with one account you are violating it with all accounts. Jabber.org.uk strives to provide a useful, secure system of communication for all it's users and will take whatever actions it's administrators deem reasonable and necessary to attain this. Where necessary and appropriate Jabber.org.uk will report to, or co-operate with, law enforcement officials. We expect your use NOT to include: * the use of the Jabber server to compromise the security of any system. * to register a Jabber ID that intentionally impersonates another Jabber ID. * to register a Jabber ID that is considered by the administrators to be offensive. * to use offensive or sexually suggestive language in public conference rooms or rooms that are logged. * to detract anyone else's use of the Jabber server. This is not an exhaustive list, merely an indicative and final discretion is held by the administrators of this service. Commercial Use -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The jabber.org.uk service is not intended as a commercial service, nor is it intended to carry commercial traffic. We make no guarantees nor do we provide any warranty on the quality of service. We are not liable for any damages or any loss of business you may incur because of problems with our service. Virtual Hosting -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The jabber.org.uk server does/will offer hosting for Jabber servers for other domains[1]. This AUP is applicable for accounts on all virtual hosted domains we provice. If you wish to discuss virtual hosting additional domains or subdomains please contact the administrators [3]. Account & Message expiry -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Jabber.org.uk administrators will, from time to time, remove accounts that have not been logged into for the last six (6) months. If required they will also remove any unread offline messages that are over two (2) months old. If you are expecting to be away for a prolonged period of time please contact the Administrators [3] who may be able to put your account into hibernation for a longer period of time. Account Information & Personal Details -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Jabber.org.uk and it's Administrators will not intentionally disclose or pass on the details of your account or any personal information to any other person or individual without your authorisation unless one of the following applies: * the disclosure is for the purposes of preventing or detecting crime. * you have broken this AUP. We do our best to keep the information private and secure, but strongly suggest you do not use the same email/password combination elsewhere. Account Details Retrieval -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- When you registered your account you were asked to provide an email address. You can reset your password using the web interface accessible at the Jabber.org.uk website [2] and it will be emailed to the email address on file. We cannot verify you are the owner of your account any other way. You can change also change your email address on the web interface if you know your account details. It is important to keep your email address up to date. Account Deletion -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- There are three methods for deleting your account: * using your Jabber client * using the web interface * or as the last resort request it by contacting the administrators [3]. Updating of AUP/ToS -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- We will, as required, update this AUP/ToS and will notify users. Agreement -=-=-=-=- If you do not agree to this AUP you should stop using the service and unregister your account as per the 'Account Deletion' section Notes: [1] Jabber.org.uk virtual hosted domains will be listed on the website: http://www.jabber.org.uk/ [2] http://www.jabber.org.uk/ [3] Send a Jabber message to 'jabber.org.uk' or email admin@jabber.org.uk -- AUP r2, October 2007
